Helen Keller Vision Award

At their meeting on February 1, 2017 the University Ballard Lions Club presented a Helen Keller Vision Award to three representatives of the Delta Gamma sorority at the University of Washington in recognition of the outstanding service Delta Gamma has provided to the greater Seattle Community by collecting, sorting and cleaning used eyeglasses for distribution to financially needy citizens who require glasses to improve their quality of life.  Delta Gamma has been providing 20-40 of their members to assist the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center as it processes around 5000 pairs of used eyeglasses every few months to get them ready for distribution within the State of Washington and abroad.

Shown in this picture is University-Ballard Lions Club President, Fred Minifie, with Alexandra Johnson, Megan Hafermann, and Katy  McGuire who proudly received the Helen Keller Vision Award on behalf of the many women in Delta Gamma who have helped the Lions in the important task of making used eyeglasses available to needy citizens.
