The University-Ballard Lions Club received a wonderful review of the developmental history of Turkey in a program presented by Ali San, a Turkish-American citizen of Seattle since 1969. In his many trips back to the nation of his birth, Ali San has followed closely the changes in government, philosophy and the impact on the Turkish people. He admired the very positive changes implemented by President Ataturk in the 1920s and the more recent punitive policies by the current autocratic president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. During the past year the United States government has warned its citizens to not travel in Turkey because of the dangers that exist for foreigners.
Shown in this picture is Ali San just after he received the Lions Coffee Cup from University-Ballard President Fred Minifie in gratitude for his excellent and provocative message.
